剛果攀鼠亞科(學名:Deomyinae)是齧齒目鼠科五個亞科當中最新的一個亞科,包含四個屬;成立以前,本亞科的成員舊屬鼠亞科或Dendromurinae。有部分文獻稱呼本亞科為 非洲刺毛鼠科(學名:Acomyinae),特別是在本亞科演化支存在的關鍵物種、剛果攀鼠屬的Deomys ferugineus被發現之前。由於剛果攀鼠屬的學名比非洲刺毛鼠屬較早被命名,所以在這條演化支的命名上有優化權。
在生物形態學上,本亞科物種並沒有可以與其他亞科成員分辨出來的明顯特徵。由文獻提出可從牠們是否存在第三上大臼齒來判斷,但不獲普遍接納。所以本亞科純綷是因為基因突變的共同特徵而成立的,而這涉及對這些物種的細胞核、線粒體DNA及DNA-DNA雜化在統計學上的分析。基於這個理由,預期當科學家對其他鼠科物種的分子系統發生學研究增加,本亞科成員可能會繼續增加,從其他亞科(很可能還是鼠亞科或Dendromurinae )遷入。
由於本亞科的所有成員均在非洲棲息,牠們的起源很可能亦同樣在非洲;不過非洲刺毛鼠屬亦有物種分佈於亞洲。
