Background

"Hard Road Ahead" was written during a period when Li Bai faced setbacks in his official career. In his early years, the poet harbored ambitions to serve the country, hoping to achieve great accomplishments through a government position. However, after entering the court, he experienced rejection and exile, leading to disappointment. Li Bai gradually came to realize the difficulties and complexities of the official path, with no opportunity to fulfill his ideals and ambitions. This poem was created in such a context, reflecting his inner conflicts, hesitation, and hopes.

A golden goblet filled with fine wine worth ten thousand coins,On jade plates, exquisite delicacies valued at countless wealth.

The fine wine in the golden goblet is of great value, and the exquisite delicacies on the jade plate are worth ten thousand coins. (This is a description of a rich and luxurious life. On the surface, the poet lives a rich life, but he does not feel happy in his heart.)
