樂隊在位於洛杉磯的The Pass工作室與製作人格雷格·非德爾曼（英語：Greg Fidelman）共同製作了此張專輯。專輯之封面及曲目列表於2010年1月6日在樂隊的MySpace頁面公開。此專輯 Snakes for the Divine則於同年2月23日由E1音樂發行。

主題

在一次訪談中，馬特·派克說道：「標題『Snakes for the Divine’基於的前提是，亞當與夏娃不是地球上所出現的第一批人類，且亞當有一個名為莉莉斯的爬蟲作為妻子。他們才是首先出現的兩個帶有爬行動物DNA的人，且創造了三四維之間的可變形人類——阿努納奇，和現在的人類自己。最終，在古美索不達米亞，這促生了組織光照派。幾千年以來，這個組織一直在做諸如選擇國王、控制媒體、控制銀行之類的事。但這些只是理論上的，我想基於這個傳說，能創作一首偉大的金屬歌曲，所以我寫出了這首專輯。這主題就是這張專輯創作的背景。」[1]
