亞裔美國人和太平洋島民傳統月(Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month)[1]是為表彰亞裔美國人太平洋島民對美國的貢獻而於每年5月美國舉行的主題活動。[2]2009年5月1日,美國總統貝拉克·歐巴馬宣佈5月為亞裔美國人和太平洋島民傳統月。[1][3]

背景

1587年,有菲律賓人來到了現今美國的加利福尼亞英語Landing of the first Filipinos[4][5]。1778年,有中國人來到了夏威夷。1788年,有夏威夷原住民來到了現今美國的俄勒岡州[6] 1806年,有日本人抵達夏威夷英語Japanese in Hawaii[7] 1884年,有一批朝鮮人抵達美國。[8]1900年代開始,有查莫羅人抵達加利福尼亞和夏威夷。[9]1912年,有越南人來到美國[10]
