早期生活
塔琳·曼宁出生于维吉尼亚州福尔斯彻奇[2]，是音乐家比尔·曼宁（Bill Manning）和莎琳·路易丝（Sharyn Louise，原姓怀特）的女儿[3]。父母在她两个月大时离婚。她和兄弟凯林（Kellin）在亚利桑那州图森由母亲扶养长大[4][5]；曼宁一家三口住在拖车公园，依靠拮据的收入过活。她表示：“直到我搬出去，妈妈才给自己买了一双新鞋和一套新衣服，”“从字面而言，当我向妈妈要一美元时，就会得到了一美元。”尽管家庭经济困难，母亲仍让曼宁参加了空手道、舞蹈和表演课程。[6]12岁时，随家人搬到了加利福尼亚州恩西尼塔斯[6]。两年后，父亲自杀身亡[5]。
