2012年夏季奧林匹克運動會在全球範圍內進行轉播，轉播權由國際奧林匹克委員會下屬的奧林匹克廣播服務機構所有，該機構享有轉包給其他轉播商的權利，通過轉包覆蓋賽事。原始的音視頻在轉包給各國轉播商後，再由各轉播商加入評論和介紹[1]。

東道主英國的轉播權由英國廣播公司所有，各頻道共轉播5000小時的賽事[2]。

轉播

本屆比賽的轉播採用的是松下公司的數字技術，源視頻經過國際廣播中心對外傳輸1080/50i的高清晰度視頻[3]。松下公司表示，其DVCPRO HD格式視頻是奧運會的官方記錄格式。主要轉播商倫敦奧林匹克廣播服務機構採用P2 HD格式記錄比賽[4]。根據國際奧委會儘可能廣泛的覆蓋全球觀眾的要求，2012年倫敦奧運會正在一些國家和地區廣播。

本屆奧運會的轉播出現多個臨近地區共用一個轉播商的情況。在中國大陸和澳門，由中央電視台提供轉播信號源。韓國和朝鮮雖然為兩個政治實體，但由同一轉播商提供信號源[5][6]。

本屆奧運會的轉播首次引進3D轉播技術，通過各國電視台向全世界轉播3D賽事[7][8][9][10][11][12]。國際奧林匹克委員會於2012年6月6日宣布，奧運會期間提供視頻源給YouTube來覆蓋64個國家[13]。

^6 – 本次是亞洲電視免費電視牌照屆滿而停播之前最後一次播放奧運，其後2016年夏季奧運會由TVB獨家播映，2020年夏季奧運會開始至今由香港政府購入播映權由TVB、now TV/ViuTV、Cable及奇妙電視播映。
