甲磺酸鈰(III)是鈰的甲磺酸鹽,為白色固體,通常以二水合物Ce(CH3SO3)3·2H2O的形式由碳酸鈰(III)和甲磺酸反應沉澱得到。它最初於1979年由L.B. Zinner製得。[2][3]其晶體具有單斜聚合結構,每個甲磺酸根離子與兩個8配位數的鈰原子鍵合。[4]無水鹽可以通過水合物在120 °C的失水得到。其它鑭系金屬甲磺酸鹽也能通過類似的方法製得。[5] 甲磺酸鈰(III)的溶液可以作為電化學法製備Ce(IV)的前體,Ce(IV)作為強氧化劑可用於有機合成。[6]電化學法生成Ce(IV)是鋅-鈰電池陽極的基本半反應。
