阿卜耶伊 (2011年的公投無限期推遲)
2011年南蘇丹獨立公投是南蘇丹根據2005年簽署的《全面和平協定》於2011年1月9日舉行的一次公投，以決定是否從蘇丹共和國獨立。與此同時，位於北南分界線中段的阿卜耶伊地區也舉行公投，以決定該地區屬於南蘇丹共和國還是蘇丹共和國政府。選舉於當地時間2011年1月9日早上8點正式開始。大約390多萬蘇丹南部登記選民在蘇丹國內外3000個投票站進行投票。投票持續7天，每天早上8點開始，下午5點結束，直至1月15日[1]。投票率約達98%，贊成獨立的有效票占98.83%。如果沒有異議，最終結果將於2月7日確定；若出現異議，最終結果則將於14日確定[2]。主辦單位回報指出，部分地區的投票率超過9成。結果選民幾乎壓倒性地支持南蘇丹獨立建國[3]。建立獨立國家的預定日期為2011年7月9日[4]。

分析
外界重視這次投票的先例，因為大多數非洲國家的邊界是在殖民時期決定的，這導致了宗教、族裔和文化的異質混合。然而，非洲統一組織由於擔心分裂戰爭可能引發，沒有重新劃定邊界。[6]
