三角形二,拜耳名称为南三角座β,拉丁化的名称为β Trianguli Australis,是在南天星座南三角座的一对双星。它距离地球大约是40.37光年(12.38秒差距),视星等为+2.85等[2]。这颗恒星在天球上有相对较高的自行速率[9]。它是一颗F型主序星,恒星分类为F1V[3]。三角形二的光学伴星视星等14等,角距离155弧秒。
史匹哲太空望远镜进行的观测揭示了这颗恒星的过量红外发射。这表明该系统中存在星周物质,使其成为岩屑盘的候选者[10]。这颗恒星可能是绘架座β移动星群的成员,这是一个由大约17颗恒星组成的星群,它们有著共同的起源和相似的空间运动。如果它是这一群体的成员,那么三角形二的年龄约为1,200万年;与星群本身相同[11]。
