English: The tape measure dates back to the Japanese colonial period, with the words "The Empire of Japan" and "Made by the Governor-General of Taiwan" engraved on the case. In the meantime, the text "Cl.129 No.40" is marked in black laquer on the front, which is the property code format of Taihoku Imperial University. In the centre of the front is a metal knob with an inscribed emblem of "two inverted triangles with four legs each (the seal of approval of the Governor-General's system of measurement units). The tape measure eventually found its way to Professor Chen Yi-Ming of the Institute of Plant Biology and was donated to NTU History Gallery.
