合成
異煙酸甲酯可由吡啶-4-甲醛和碘、亞硝酸鈉在甲醇中於70 °C反應得到;[1]或由異煙酸和甲醇在硫酸的存在下反應製得[2],其中,異煙酸也可轉化為酰氯直接和醇反應得到酯。[3]
N-氧化吡啶-4-甲酸甲酯在雷尼鎳的催化下和甲酸銨反應,也能得到異煙酸甲酯。[4]
